Truman Delane Callis affectionately known as “Dugan”, aged 78 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 12, 2024, at his residence is Bloomington, IN. He was born December 11, 1945 in Bedford, Kentucky to Jesse and Martha. Dugan was a man whose life was marked by an honorable service as a valiant sailor on the USS Randolph in the United States Navy from 1963-1969. Upon honorable discharge, Dugan transitioned to a civilian career with the same sense of duty and dedication to his role at United Technologies Otis Elevator. For 30 years he stood as a paragon of diligence performing his duties as a forklift driver with the utmost integrity. His tireless work ethic and dependability were hallmarks of his character. Away from his professional life, he was a man of simple pleasures. His allegiance to the Kentucky Wildcats was matched only by his enthusiasm for the sport. The fairways were a favorite pastime, but his garden was a canvas upon which he painted with natures colors and found peace within the blooms and foliage of his creation. Left to honor Dugan’s memory are his devoted wife, Patricia A. Callis; his dear children Crystal Franklin of Carrollton, KY; Terry Callis of Madison, IN; Michelle (Cassel) Turner of Whiteland, IN; Randy Callis of Carrollton, KY, and Delana Callis of Bloomington, IN; along with nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death along with his parents were four brothers and one sister.
