Smith Lee Taylor, Sr.

Smith Lee Taylor, Sr., age 73, died at his residence in Lewisport, Kentucky, on Friday, December 30, 2022. Born April 10, 1949, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Junius Monroe Taylor and Pauline Winstead Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era from 1969 through 1971 in Anchorage, Alaska. After his honorable service, Smith worked in Owensboro, Kentucky at the Cigar Factory, Commonwealth Aluminum, and the Housing Authority of Owensboro before settling down for retirement in Lewisport, Kentucky. Smith had a passion for hunting, body building, karate, drawing, gardening, and playing a competitive game of chess.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, his sister and bother-in-law Sheila Marie Smith and Herchel Smith, his brother Geary Wayne Taylor, his sister and bother-in-law Deborah Ann Wimsatt and Richard Wimsatt, and his sister Reedie Katrina Taylor Bedford. He is survived by brothers Monroe Lorenzo Taylor, Winstead Darnell Taylor, and Carl Van Taylor, and sister Sylvia Elizabeth Long; his children Carlissa Ann Taylor, Smith Lee Taylor, Jr., Joshua Lee Powell, Whitney Lashea Taylor O'Bryan, Kelsey Crowe, and Robert Preston Crowe, and 6 grandchildren.
Alternatively, a small private gathering of immediate family was held instead of formal services. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, you may send donations to your favorite charity in his remembrance.
