Shelley Scott passed away at the Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana on May 11, 2021.
Born on October 13, 1952 on U.S. Air Force Base Takkakaw, Japan to Major John Boydell Scott and Dorothy Addington Scott. Shelley graduated from Bloomington High School in 1971 and Indiana University in 1975 with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked at Indiana University for over 30 years, retiring in December 2020 from the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and cultures.
Shelley was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bloomington, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her brother, John Boydell Scott Jr. (Linda) of Indianapolis; a niece Leslie Dianne Sampson (Jeff) and her children Lucas A. Rankin and Sydney E. Rankin of Fishers, IN; her nephew John Boydell Scott III (Esther) and their son Alexander J. Scott of Winter Garden, Florida. Also, her "Bloomington family" Jane and George Freeman, Leslie New (Cody), and Eric Freeman (Minnie).
Nothing meant more to Shelley than her collective family, friends, and her dogs. Everyone loved her sense of humor even if she forgot the punch lines of her jokes. She was very proud to be a part of the Indiana University Slavic Department.
