Brant, Robert Riley "Bob" 87 years old, passed away peacefully, with his daughter by his side, on March 27, 2022. He suffered a severe stroke a few weeks earlier. Bob was predeceased by his parents Ruthford and Mary Louise Brant; his wife of 34 years, Barbara Jean; his brother Owen Brant and his stepdaughter, Shelley Denise Groves. Bob was born November 7, 1934 in Logansport, Indiana. He was an athlete who excelled on the Deer Creek basketball team. Dad was on the cage team, which was the top 100 high school players in basketball each year. All things basketball, especially college ball, were on his agenda. He always rooted for the Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers. I'm sorry you missed March Madness this year dad. Our father served two years in the United States Marine Corps with two additional years in the reserves. Bob consistently worked hard and spent time, in his youth, working for a local farmer. Dad loved to tell this story; he was working very hard in the fields one day and came to the farmer's house for lunch. He was very thirsty, so filled up on tea. A couple hours later the farmer's wife showed up with a sandwich saying, " I knew you did not eat enough lunch today, tomorrow eat more food and drink less tea." Dad said he learned a valuable lesson that day. Bob's work ethic carried over when he was hired at PPG Industries, loading trucks. He retired from PPG as plant supervisor of the shipping department in 1994. Bob was dedicated to his wife, Barbara, who created a lovely yard and garden he helped to tend. Bob and Barb, as they were so fondly called, were co-owners of their antique business; B & B Antiques. Dad had an incredible ability to pack an enormous quantity of fragile antiques in a full sized van. Once, a man asked Bob if he could watch to see how our father managed this herculean task. Dad leaves a multitude of friends. He was a person of a very generous nature. In the end, he gave away everything he owned. Fittingly, we, his children, donated all of the furnishings from his apartment, to the new, young neighbors across the hallway. We feel he would have wanted arrangements this way. Dad, may you rest in eternal peace. Until we meet again, your loving family, children, Kyle, Kathy and Julie. Daughter-in-law, Jeannie Brant. Son-in-law, David Forrester. Granddaughters, Kaliecia Smith, Brooke Forrester and Abigail Brant. Nephew Keith Brant and niece Lisa Brant Stafford.
