Raymond Scott Basham

Raymond Scott Basham, 72, of Vine Grove, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and his first wife, Carolyn Roan Basham.
He is survived by his wife Teresa, three sons, Rowman Basham (Kimberly) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Rhett Basham (Joanna) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Roark Basham of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a daughter Risha Basham Cross (Watt) of Chesapeake, Virginia.
He had eight grandchildren- Addison, Landon, Reid, Amelia, Paige, Dexter, Sydney, and Nolan, and one great grandson, Sawyer.
Ray was a member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church and supported congregations in Memphis, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbia, South Carolina; and Norfolk, Virginia in his time as a member there. He was a career salesman, and explored many different opportunities in that field throughout his life. He was also one of the rare fans of both sides of the Kentucky-Louisville Rivalry, supporting both the Wildcats and the Cardinals. He always enjoyed fishing, but above all other hobbies, he was a lover of animals, never turning away a stray dog or cat and often treating them like members of the family.
There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, September 25th, 2021, at 7 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, Chesapeake, VA located at 1477 Kempsville Road. Donations in his memory may be made to Christ's Sanctified Holy Church or the SPCA in your local area, in his name. He will be laid to rest in Fort Valley, Georgia in the church cemetery of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church.
