Margarita R. Avelar

Margarita (Margie) R. Avelar went home to our heavenly father on Monday, September 13, 2021 in Louisville, KY. She was Born May 1, 1957 to Juan and Antonia Avelar in Las Cruces, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, her Brother Thomas R. Avelar, Nephew Damien O. Avelar and her Companion Robert R. Hofmo . She spent many years working for Motel 6 in Phoenix, AZ as the head housekeeper, she enjoyed going to casinos, plays, operas, musicals. She also enjoyed going to Mariachi concerts, the downtown festivals in Las Cruces and the events in Ruidoso. She loved singing and dancing to Red Red Wine By UB40 and Margarita By Little Joe. She is survived by her only daughter Antonia Martinez and husband Mario of Louisville, KY. her only granddaughter Margie Amanda Engel and her husband Joel, her Great-Grandchildren Keegan, Sophia, Anakin Engel. Close Family friend Jerry Fleming and his son James Fleming, she is also survived by her sister Josie Avelar of Las Cruces, NM, Brothers Raymundo Avelar and wife Bonnie of Chamberino, NM. Juan Avelar and Companion Eva of Deming, NM. Luis Avelar and wife Yolanda, Espiridion Avelar and wife Mary Jane. And Sister Andrea Avelar all of Las Cruces, NM. And her fur baby Isis. A Memorial service will be held in Las Cruces, NM at St. Genevieve Catholic Church at a later date.
