Lydell Barksdale, Sr

Lydell Barksdale Sr (aka Disco), age 56, passed away at his Louisville KY home on Friday, May 3,

2024. He was born July 25, 1967, in Chicago IL to Robert Barksdale Sr and Anita Washington.

He graduated from Austin high school and became a blue-collar worker in different industries over the

years, mainly in transportation, hospitality, and logistics. His most current position was a Forklift Driver

at UPS.

A fun fact: During his younger adult years, beginning 1982, Lydell and his friends; Butch, Jimmy

(preceded in death), Wolfe (preceded in death), Scottie (preceded in death), Rodney, and Snake

created War DJ Sound Productions and hosted house music parties throughout Chicago and

surrounding areas.

He enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with his family, having special moments with his

children and grandchildren and being a jokester every day (smile). He was truly a character and very

joyful. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all those who knew him.

He is survived by his partner, Sheenon Dye; children, Lydell Barksdale Jr, Sheenon Barksdale, Alexis

Banks and Dameon Dye; grandchildren, Za’hiya Barksdale, Za’mira Barksdale, Zion Barksdale,

Braden King, Mckenze Barksdale, Serenity Franklin and Lyric Wade Mulani Banks; parents, Robert

Barksdale (biological father), Anita Washington (mother) and Henry Washington Sr (preceded in

death/stepfather); siblings, Lonza Washington (preceded in death), Santella Washington, Latoya

Robinson, Henry Washington Jr, Chinita Washington, Irvan Washington and Ghiche Bradley Sr. There

are many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other family, and friends.
