Kristen L. Patterson

Kristen L. Patterson was born October 6, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She died January 31, 2025 in Columbus, Indiana.

Kris grew up in Cherry Hill New Jersey, the daughter of Jim and Betty Smith. They attended Bethel Baptist church where Kris acquired her faith and love for Jesus, a faith she relied on for the rest of her life.

She meet Dale Patterson of Chicago, Illinois while attending Taylor University and they where married in 1971. At Taylor Kris earned a degree in elementary education and later went on to earn a masters degree from Indiana University. She taught in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation for thirty-seven years and was known as a kind and dedicated teacher.

Kris’s church family in Columbus was New Hope Christian Church. For numerous years she taught Sunday School and also served as Sunday School superintendent. She loved her church family as they loved her in return.

In death Kris leaves behind her husband of 54 years Dale Patterson: two sons, Dane Patterson of Columbus, Dylan and Heather Patterson of Columbus, two younger sisters, Debbie Rochford of Cleveland, Ohio and Karen Moran of Oneonta, New York, and two grandchildren, Carter Patterson and Harper Patterson.

Kris’s friend and Pastor John Sichting will preside over a memorial service to be held at New Hope Christian Church, 1404 W. 400 N. Columbus Indiana 47203 on February 5. Visiting hours 4 pm to 6 pm, memorial service at 6 pm.
