Kathleen "Katie" Johnson

Katie was born to the late Martin "Pete" and Edna Fiedler at their farin Gar Creek, IN. She graduated from New Haven H.S. and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Later in life she returned to higher education and received her B.S. in Nursing from St. Francis College in Joliet, IL. Katie loved being a nurse and was a "people person".
Katie met John shortly after his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army (Korean War). Their marriage lasted 52 years and retirement brought RV adventures and a sailboat docked on Lake Wawasee. Katie had 2 daughters. Diann Lynn ( Johnson) Blackman and Renee A (Jim) Engle of Avilla, IN. Katie is survived by 4 grandchildren: Dennison J. Blackman and Alanna Blackman (Yoon Kim), all from the L.A. area. Also Dominick Engle of Lagrange, IN and Veronica Engle (Ryan Page ) from FL Wayne, IN. The greatest addition to her life is and always will be her great grandson Ty James Engle , for whom she hung the moon and stars! Katie is also survived by her sisters Jenny (Pat) Drummer and Shirley (Marlin) Culy and two sisters-in-law Letha Ariane Fiedler. Katie was predeceased by her sister Evelyn (Donald) Bender, brothers Wayne and Donald Fiedler, and brother-in-law Bill Haney.
The family was unable to have a service for Diann at the time of her passing and then covid. We're combining Katie and Diann's Celebration of Life memorial service for both beautiful ladies. October 27, 2022 , 11am, Immanuel Lutheran Church, 111 West Albion Street, Avilla, IN 46710. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Humane Society of Noble County
