Howard Darrin Phillips

November 14, 1968 — February 9, 2023

Darrin Phillips passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023 at his home following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, and months of Hospice Care. He was surrounded with all the love of his family, children, friends, and beloved pets. ‍ Darrin was born on November 14, 1968 in Frankfort, KY. He is survived by his wife, Tracy, who lovingly provided his around the clock care for the duration of his diagnosis; his daughters, Hannah (Jimmy) Thomas, and Cassidy Phillips; his sons, Chandler Link and Dustin Link; his mother-in-law, Letha Davidson; his grandsons, Caden Thomas and Hudson Thomas; his aunt and uncle in laws, Ray and Lucylynn Ivie, and his chosen family, special friends, Matt, Andrea, Boyd, Gwen and Asher Davis.
Darrin was preceded in death by his mother and father, Howard and Opal Phillips, and his stillborn twin brother, Anthony Duane Phillips.
Darrin will be remembered as a fantastic father and husband who adored his family- so much so that he had a special tattoo on his forearm of two large geckos for himself and his wife, and four small geckos representing each of his four children. He retired from the State of Kentucky postal services after seventeen years of service and had a special love for fishing. He LOVED following and listening to The Grateful Dead. His love for unique experiences and traveling showed throughout his entire life; he went to Germany as an exchange student with the State YMCA where he found a love for German beer. Later in life, he enjoyed traveling with his family, and especially treasured vacations to the beach and anywhere outdoors. He cared about everyone he met, and was a great listener. Darrin was also an accomplished artist, and his daughter Cassidy shows his aptitude for art.
Before his decline, Darrin enjoyed simple pleasures of life; his favorite spot was any chair on back porch, looking out over the trees and greenery, drinking a hot cup of black coffee, listening to the birds, wind chimes, and his grandkids playing in the background. He loved with his whole being, and we will miss him so very, very much. ‍ Darrin's choice was for direct cremation, and there will be a small memorial service in the spring as the weather gets warmer. We will invite people out to share memories with his children and to enjoy his music, drinks, and hopefully, a nice bonfire- a celebration fit for him.
