It is with great sadness that family and friends mourn the passing of Gary Edward Arbeiter.
Gary was born and grew up in Murphysboro, IL and he also lived a majority of his life in Arizona where he became a gunsmith, a lifelong passion of his. He later had a twenty year career with Arizona State Parks and ultimately became the manager of Red Rock State Park in Sedona, overseeing one hundred volunteers, creating the Benefactors of RRSP and working with a large staff and community.
After retirement in 2013 he moved to Bloomington, IN with his wife Patty where they created a new home and spent hundreds of hours volunteering at the Community Kitchen, IU Women's Basketball head offices and the Buskirk Chumly Theater.
An avid hunter, camper, kayaker and motorcyclist he supported Veterans for Peace and food banks throughout the country and at home. A voracious reader who loved both telling and writing stories, engaging conversations and was a member of the lifelong learners club.
