Floyd Barger Cooper, 88, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Yorktown, Indiana surrounded by family. Born on March 15, 1936, in Charleston, Missouri, Floyd lived a life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and a passion for collecting and craftsmanship.
Floyd proudly served in the United States Navy as a radarman aboard the USS Iowa from 1955 to 1958. Following his military service, he built a career at Indiana Steel & Wire, where his strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his years of service.
Beyond his professional life, Floyd had a deep appreciation for collecting. He found joy in gathering coins, stamps, and photographs, each item holding a story or memory that he cherished. His love for woodworking allowed him to create lasting pieces with skill and care, while fishing provided him with moments of peace and reflection.
Floyd was an amazing husband, father, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Linda Kay (Griffin) Cooper; and their sons, Brett Cooper; wife Mary Cooper and Bart Cooper; wife Celia Cooper. Floyd has 3 granddaughters 1 grandson and 3 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Cooper and Edith Mae Cooper; his brother Gary Cooper; and his siblings Jerry Cooper and Jean Parton.
A private gathering to honor Floyd’s life will be held at a later date. Floyd’s legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
