Elton Thompson

Elton was born on November 28, 1944 in Eldorado, Arkansas and departed this life on September 2, 2022 in South Bend, Indiana. He had a great sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face and he always found a way to put a smile on the face of those around him.
Elton began his career at Wire Craft in Laporte, Indiana where he worked for more than 20 years. After which he worked and served in various capacities of law enforcement for the South Bend police department and Notre Dame for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, football, and listening to the blues. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God and understood the importance of having an intimate relationship with Christ. He was a member of Deer Run Church of Christ in South Bend, Indiana.
He will genuinely be missed by all those who knew him.
Elton is survived by his brother Elmer Thompson and sister Mary Sanders, the mother of his children Chris Blackmon, son Elton Tompson Jr (Christine); daughter Charlotte Thompson; daughter Beverly Dickerson; son Jeff Gambleton (Relonda); and daughter Cassandra Thompson. The daughters of his late wife (Joyce), Serena (Sidney) Forester and Selena McNair, Beverly (Karlos) Floyd, Dianne McNair, and Joanne McNair. Grandchildren John Thompson; Barbara Ball, Suevenna Thompson, Demonte Thompson; Stephanie Smith (John), Santroine Dickerson (Shanitra), Lakeisha Reed (Karnavis); Ka'Shawn Gambleton; Shynetra Lettre (Tyler), Elton Thompson III, Zamale Davis, Nicholaus Weddington, Taylor Irvin, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by wife Annie Joyce Thompson, his sisters Ozzie Dean Gaynor, Katie Lovett, grandson Dequan Bird; and his parents.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
