Ekaterina Georgieva Dukova (Nee: Hidjova), born August 8,1924 in Haznatar, Greece; passed away on March 1, 2022. She was preceded by her husband, Gregori Dukova; sister, Sofia and brother, Ilia. She is survived by her daughter, Ofeliya Georgieva Du Pont (Terrence) and grandson, Borislav Sabotinov (Yaohong).
She was a strong, stoic woman who endured the burdens of nearly a century of life without complaint. From raising her daughter after the untimely passing of her husband, to raising her grandson while her daughter worked in Europe, her presence was a constant source of reassurance and strength for her family. She provided the solid foundation upon which her loved ones could build towards a brighter tomorrow.
No stranger to hard work, she helped her parents farm tobacco in the Bulgarian south, then a kingdom ruled by Tsar Boris III. No stranger to hardship, she survived a world war, a Communist takeover of Bulgaria, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. As an adult, she worked for over 30 years as an administrator in various organizations in Sofia, Bulgaria's capitol. By the time she retired in her 60s, she had many friends and cherished memories of a life already well lived.
She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Ekaterina, you will always be remembered with love in our hearts. Rest In Peace.
