Charles Jason Schumacher

December 31, 1976 — September 23, 2024

A beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend, Charles Jason Schumacher, known to all as CJ, passed away on September 23, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., surrounded by love. Born on December 31, 1976, in Miami Beach, Florida, to Terrance and Joyce Schumacher (Theisen), CJ made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered in his 47 years of life.

He is survived by an incredible cast of family and friends who were blessed to have him in their lives. His mother, Joyce, the Greatest of All Time, a.k.a. "The GOAT," shaped his life with unwavering love and support. CJ was a father to his son, Toby, whom he cherished deeply. Even though geography kept them apart, Toby was always in CJ's heart and thoughts every minute of every day. He also proudly embraced his role as a family man with his two sons by marriage, Cody and Devin, and he enjoyed sharing in their moments in life.

CJ shared a unique bond with his twin sister, Jennifer, always light-hearted and funny—he affectionately called her his "Womb Mate." His love story with his wife, Jennifer Schumacher, was an extraordinary chapter in his life; in true CJ fashion, he proposed to her in front of a crowd at Louisville Slugger Field, with a big “Will you marry me?” on the jumbo-tron in center field while kneeling on the roof of the dugout for all to see. This moment perfectly captured his playful spirit and profound affection.

CJ was a person who brought immense happiness to those around him. For those of us who survive him, we will remember the joy he shared and cherish it for the rest of our lives. It goes without saying that CJ will be missed; he will be remembered, and he leaves this world with a lasting impact on all of us fortunate enough to have known him and call him a friend or family member.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 12:00pm - 5:00pm (service 4 - 5pm) at Quail Chase Golf Course, 700 Cooper Chapel Rd., Louisville, KY 40229.
