Brian "Kevin" Bowles, 60 years old, of Louisville, Kentucky left this sweet old world on January 13th, 2022. He is survived by his two daughters, Amy McNatt, 38, and Brandi Bowles, 39, five grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, and two step-siblings. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Jane Maeser, father Richard Bowles, step-father Henry Maeser, two-step-brothers, and his wife Gina Bowles with whom he was married for 20 years. He was also briefly married to Patricia Clark, 60, of Louisville Kentucky.
Kevin was an extremely gifted vocalist, who spent his life performing in various bands, for his late wife and children, family, receptionists, bus drivers, and whoever would listen. He loved music immensely, especially songs about heartbreak, songs that soared and crashed, songs about vagabonds and hopeless romantics and sly Southerners that cheat death, life, and the law.
He was most alive onstage, where he would stalk and seduce the crowd with a feline intensity, and sing with wild (and loud) abandon. He never met a guitar he couldn't twang out of tune.
Kevin was a finish-carpenter for most of his life, a hard worker with a deeply ingrained work ethic. While he knew didn't know everything about houses, he never failed to "‘Taj' (Mahal) it up" when he could. His janky fixes and housing hacks were legendary. Also legendary were his many scuffles with scaffolding, hammers, and other tools, of which his beat up arms and hands told the story. If there were a degree in healing injuries with Duct Tape and diesel fuel, he would've had a doctorate. And you would be asking for a different doctor.
Throughout his life Kevin loved simple things, like Chicken and Dumplings, bubble baths, and warm socks on a cold morning (often straight out of the oven). He was a sucker for bad science fiction movies, football, dirty jokes, and beer. Though he had his struggles, his heart was big and open; he wore his emotions on his sleeve and would never hesitate to tell you he loved you at every opportunity. We will always cherish him when he was at his best, and remember him for his joy and wildness, his earnestness and artistry, his loyalty and sweet heart. May he forever rest in peace.
